A federal recall is an investigative lead. It is not, by itself, proof of a defect, causation, or liability. A federal recall is an investigative lead, not a final answer about who is responsible or what caused an injury. Ohio families can act to protect themselves while preserving the evidence needed to understand what happened.
This roundup covers recall notices and safety alerts identified for October 5–12, 2026, along with a Dollar Tree notice dated October 1 that remains relevant because of its broad retail exposure. Righting Wrongs and Protecting Futures means taking safety concerns seriously while carefully examining the facts.
Ohio-priority recalls with reported injuries or broad exposure
- PACEARTH Swing Seats (CPSC, October 8): About 110,550 seats were sold on Amazon. Pacearth Direct and the CPSC say seats, carabiners, or webbing can break. The CPSC reported at least 30 fall reports and nine injuries, including fractures and head injuries. Stop using the seat and contact the firm for a full refund. Read the PACEARTH Swing Seats recall notice (cpsc.gov).
- DR Power Equipment Pilot and Premier Trimmer Mowers (CPSC, October 8): About 42,860 U.S. units are involved. Grass and debris can build up and ignite. The CPSC reported 19 fire incidents and two minor burn injuries. Stop using the mower and contact DR Power Equipment for a free repair kit or dealer installation. See the DR Power trimmer mower recall notice (cpsc.gov).
- Dollar Tree Electric Balloon Pumps (CPSC, October 1): About 360,500 model 406198 pumps were sold from August 2025 through July 2026. The CPSC says electrical components can overheat. Three overheating reports included flames and an explosion. Return the pump to a Dollar Tree store for a full refund. The chain's broad Ohio store footprint makes this notice especially relevant to local families. Read the Dollar Tree Electric Balloon Pumps recall notice (cpsc.gov).
- Volkswagen ID.4 high-voltage battery (NHTSA campaign 26V630000): The stated notice covers 22,524 model-year 2023–2026 vehicles. The battery may fail and cause a fire; specified charging profiles above 80% state of charge may trigger thermal propagation. The notice reports 22 U.S. claims. The remedy is still under development. Owners are told to limit charging to 80%, with interim letters expected around November 27, 2026. Confirm eligibility and current instructions through NHTSA's vehicle recall lookup (nhtsa.gov).
- Chrysler/Ram ProMaster vans (NHTSA campaign 26V621000): The campaign covers 265,512 vans, including specified 2022–2026 ProMaster 1500/2500/3500 models and 2024–2026 ProMaster 3500 EVs. Water entering the electric power steering harness can disable power steering assist. Interim letters are expected around November 17, 2026. Commercial van duty cycles make this a practical concern for Ohio small businesses. Check the NHTSA recall lookup (nhtsa.gov).
- Ford Bronco and Bronco Raptor (NHTSA campaign 26V468000): The campaign affects 565,691 model-year 2021–2026 vehicles, the largest unit count noted in this roundup. Inadequate abrasion protection can let the engine-compartment wiring harness chafe, arc, and start a fire. Dealers will install protective sheathing and abrasion tape at no charge. Check the NHTSA recall lookup (nhtsa.gov).
- Greenwich Rx compounded glutathione (FDA, October 1). Ten nationwide lots of 200 mg/mL glutathione in 10 mL vials were recalled for elevated endotoxin levels. The FDA says two patients needed emergency-department care after intravenous administration, although the product was intended for subcutaneous injection. FDA notices describe repeated glutathione endotoxin recalls involving Texas pharmacies. Review the Greenwich Rx compounded glutathione recall (fda.gov).
- Broccoli sprouting seeds linked to Salmonella Bovismorbificans (FDA, October 2–8): The FDA's outbreak investigation reported 32 illnesses and three hospitalizations linked to contaminated seed lot W4105. Recalls included Gardeners Basics Waltham 29 seeds, Eden Brothers Calabrese broccoli seeds, and EAK Distribution HOME GROWN Green Sprouting Calabrese seeds, 8 oz. The FDA has not named the upstream seed supplier. Do not use affected seeds or sprouts. Read the Gardeners Basics recall (fda.gov), Eden Brothers recall (fda.gov), EAK Distribution recall (fda.gov), and the FDA outbreak investigation (fda.gov).
Fire and burn hazards
The CPSC also recalled Gobi Heat rechargeable hand warmers because lithium-ion batteries can overheat and ignite; about 5,500 U.S. units are involved. Designs Direct “Cupcakes and Cashmere” three-light floor lamps pose fire and burn hazards. Snow Peak Takibi propane fireplace inserts and Lava Rocks, model ST-332-US, present a risk that the lava rocks could ignite and explode when heated. About 100 units are involved, with one minor property-damage report. Follow the instructions in each notice. Read the Gobi Heat hand warmer recall notice (cpsc.gov), the Designs Direct floor lamp recall notice (cpsc.gov), and the Snow Peak fireplace insert recall notice (cpsc.gov).
Fall and crash hazards
The CPSC recalled Decathlon America Van Rysel GRVL AF bicycles because the front lock nut can loosen and the wheel can dislodge; about 1,150 units are involved, with free front-fork inspection at REI Co-op. Gazelle USA Urban Arrow cargo e-bikes have a seat-post clamp bolt that can break, affecting about 1,032 U.S. units. Read the Van Rysel GRVL AF bicycle recall notice (cpsc.gov) and the Urban Arrow cargo e-bike recall notice (cpsc.gov).
Other vehicle notices include a 2026 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid software fault that can shut down the hybrid system at speed, affecting about 31,000 vehicles; Ford Expedition and Super Duty headlights, where a contaminated LED chip can cause loss of lighting in 41,748 vehicles and violates FMVSS No. 108; Ram 1500 tire-pressure monitoring sensors that may fail to detect low tire pressure in 16,385 vehicles, violating FMVSS No. 138; and Land Rover Range Rover Sport rear subframes that may crack, affecting 1,073 vehicles. Toyota's notice is available in the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid recall announcement (toyota.com). Check each vehicle by VIN through the NHTSA recall lookup (nhtsa.gov), and follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Child and infant safety hazards
Romorgniz six-drawer dressers, about 12,078 sold on Amazon, can tip and entrap children and violate the mandatory clothing-storage-unit standard under the STURDY Act. No injuries were reported. Read the Romorgniz six-drawer dresser recall notice (cpsc.gov). The brand's separate 2026 fabric-dresser recall is a pattern worth monitoring. ONTHEWEI baby bath seats, about 2,140 units, can tip over and create a drowning risk. Read the ONTHEWEI baby bath seat recall notice (cpsc.gov). Jaguar Land Rover Defender vehicles have a second-row seat belt that may be improperly stitched and fail to restrain an occupant.
The FDA recalled Pacific Health Sciences Babies' Magic Tea Baby Sleep Gripe Water, 4 oz, lot 25122bw, for undeclared ethanol, methanol, and isopropanol, which can cause central nervous system impairment and respiratory depression in infants. The FDA also recalled Leader Formulas RAPTURE Preworkout, lot 260327-4, for DMAA, which poses cardiovascular risks. Review the FDA recall notice for Babies' Magic Tea (fda.gov) and FDA recall alerts (fda.gov) for product-specific details.
Ingestion hazards
The Conqueror Avengers Infinity Gauntlet medal, about 476 units, has high-powered magnets that can detach and violates the mandatory magnet standard. Giant Bicycle SureLock LED-light keys, about 3,630 U.S. units, expose button-cell batteries and lack required Reese's Law warnings; the recall offers a $5 refund. Keep both products away from children and follow the firms' recall instructions. Read the Avengers Infinity Gauntlet medal recall notice (cpsc.gov) and the Giant Bicycle LED-light key recall notice (cpsc.gov).
Foodborne illness and allergen hazards
The FDA listed Gias Foods Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine, 22 oz Walmart bags, for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination; the expanded recall covers all lots. Krasnyi Oktyabr Starfish Seafood Trio, an 8 oz cold-smoked salmon, halibut, and trout product distributed in six East Coast states, may also contain Listeria. Review the Krasnyi Oktyabr seafood trio recall notice (fda.gov). The FDA recalled Oliva LLC baba ghanouj and hummus for undeclared sesame, Flowers Foods Nature's Own Hawaiian Bread for undeclared milk, and Saint Francis Apizza frozen pizzas for undeclared soy. See the Saint Francis Apizza pizza recall notice (fda.gov). Check the Gias Foods recall (fda.gov), Oliva LLC recall (fda.gov), Nature's Own bread recall (fda.gov), and FDA recall alerts (fda.gov) for current notices and lot details.
Medical device and drug hazards
The FDA reported a correction for Nova Biomedical StatStrip Glucose Hospital Meter System Gen 2.0. Software may connect a glucose result to the wrong patient, potentially leading to inappropriate insulin administration. One U.S. adverse event was reported. The correction began July 24, 2026, and software updates were planned in phases for November. Par Health Brevital Sodium 500 mg/vial methohexital injection, two lots, was recalled for cellulose particulate matter. Consult the Nova correction notice (fda.gov) and Par Health recall notice (fda.gov).
NHTSA also continues to warn consumers about banned Chinese air bag inflators, now linked to an 11th U.S. fatality. Read the banned Chinese air bag inflator alert (nhtsa.gov).
What to do if a recalled product touched your family
- Stop using the product. Separate it from children and others who could be hurt.
- Preserve the product and its records. Keep packaging, receipts, lot or model numbers, serial numbers, and manuals. Before returning or destroying anything for a refund, document it.
- Photograph and video the product, damage, and injuries before repair or disposal.
- Write down the timeline of purchase, use, and injury.
- Keep medical records, emergency-department paperwork, and photographs of injuries.
- For vehicles, preserve the VIN, repair orders, and vehicle. Do not let it be scrapped or traded in before considering the evidence.
- For lithium-ion or battery products, follow safe handling instructions. Do not store a hazardous battery product inside the home or ship it.
- Save every recall notice and seller email.
- Speak with a lawyer before accepting a refund, repair, or settlement release. A remedy may address a safety issue without resolving a separate injury claim.
Ohio product liability law and deadlines
Ohio's Product Liability Act, R.C. 2307.71 through 2307.80 (codes.ohio.gov), provides the framework for claims involving manufacturing defect, design defect, and failure to warn. A product liability claim generally has a two-year limitations period under R.C. 2305.10 (codes.ohio.gov). The law also generally bars claims brought more than ten years after delivery of the product to the first purchaser, subject to statutory exceptions. Confirm the delivery date, not just the model year.
A recall notice may help show notice of a safety concern or support examination of a feasible alternative design. But a federal recall is an investigative lead, not proof by itself of defect, causation, or liability. In some cases, the facts may also support claims outside product liability, including negligence or breach of warranty. Our team evaluates each matter individually.
The takeaway for Ohio families
A recall can prompt immediate safety steps and careful evidence preservation. It does not answer every legal question. Righting Wrongs and Protecting Futures means investigating what happened, protecting your family now, and safeguarding your options for what comes next.
